How age is calculated
The calculator counts complete years first, then complete months, then the remaining days. This is the same method people use when they say someone is "7 years, 3 months and 12 days old".
When the day of the month in the end date is earlier than the birth day, the calculator borrows the length of the previous month. That keeps results correct across months of 28, 29, 30 and 31 days.
Birthdays on 29 February
For people born on 29 February, the tool treats 28 February as the birthday in years that are not leap years. Legal rules on this differ between countries, so check local rules where it matters, such as for official documents.
Totals
Totals in months, weeks, days and hours count the full time between the two dates. Hours assume whole days and ignore the time of birth and clock changes.

Frequently asked questions
Can I calculate age on a date other than today?
Yes. Change the "Age on" date to any date after the date of birth, in the past or the future.
How are leap years handled?
The calculator uses the real calendar, so leap days are counted in totals. For 29 February birthdays, 28 February is used as the birthday in non-leap years.
Does the calculator use my time zone?
It uses calendar dates only, so the result is the same in any time zone. The time of birth is not taken into account.
Is the date of birth stored?
No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
