How to use the random number generator
- 1Enter the lowest and highest numbers you want.
- 2Choose how many numbers to pick.
- 3Leave No repeats on for raffles and draws, or turn it off to allow duplicates.
- 4Press Generate, then copy the results.
Fair and unpredictable
Numbers are drawn with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, the same source used for security keys. The tool also avoids a subtle bias found in simple random functions, so every number in the range has exactly the same chance.
Both the minimum and maximum are included. Picking from 1 to 6 works like rolling a die.
With or without repeats
- No repeats draws each number at most once, like pulling numbered tickets from a hat. Use it for raffles, seating plans and random order.
- Repeats allowed treats every pick independently, like rolling a die several times.
Ideas
- Choose a winner by numbering entries and picking one.
- Split a class into random groups.
- Pick lottery-style numbers for fun. No method can predict real lottery draws.
Frequently asked questions
Is this truly random?
It uses the browser's cryptographically secure generator, which is unpredictable for all practical purposes and suitable for games, draws and sampling.
Are the minimum and maximum included?
Yes. A range of 1 to 10 can return both 1 and 10.
How many numbers can I generate?
Up to 10,000 at once. With No repeats on, you cannot ask for more numbers than the range contains.
