Which case should I use?
- Sentence case capitalizes only the first letter of each sentence. It is the most readable choice for body text, emails and most headings on the web.
- Title Case capitalizes the main words in a headline. This tool keeps short words such as "and", "of" and "the" in lower case unless they start or end the title. Style guides differ on the details, so check yours for formal publishing.
- UPPERCASE suits short labels and acronyms. Long passages in capitals are harder to read.
- lowercase is handy for cleaning up text before further editing.
Cases for code and file names
Developers use special cases where spaces are not allowed:
- camelCase and PascalCase for variable and class names
- snake_case and CONSTANT_CASE for variables, database columns and constants
- kebab-case for URLs, CSS classes and file names
- dot.case for configuration keys
The converter splits words on spaces, punctuation, underscores, hyphens and changes from lower to upper case, so you can convert between any of these formats directly.
Fixing caps lock text
If you typed a paragraph with caps lock on, paste it in and choose Sentence case. You may need to re-capitalize names and places afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?
Title Case capitalizes most words in a heading. Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of each sentence and proper nouns, the way normal sentences are written.
Will Sentence case keep names capitalized?
No tool can reliably tell which words are names. Sentence case lowercases everything except the first letter of each sentence and the word "I", so re-check names afterwards.
Can I convert snake_case to camelCase?
Yes. Paste the snake_case text and choose camelCase. The converter recognizes underscores, hyphens, dots and spaces as word breaks.
Is there a character limit?
No fixed limit. Conversion happens in your browser, so very large texts depend only on your device.
